About Me

Hi, I'm Matthew — the tutor behind Baltimore's Math U

I'm an engineer by training and a math (and physics) nerd by nature — but what actually makes me effective with students is how easily I connect with people. I grew up umpiring younger kids, I'm the oldest of 16 grandchildren, and I've always been the person who can sit down and have a real conversation with almost anyone. That ability to relate is something a lot of technically strong people simply don't have.

I still remember exactly what it feels like to stare at a problem set and feel completely stuck — and how good it feels when a concept finally clicks. That's the moment I try to get every student to. Because I genuinely get where kids are coming from, sessions stay relaxed, judgment-free, and actually useful.
